Rob and Holly Marsh of Portland had their home on the market for less than a week, when one offer came in for the close: $26,000 over asking price, two months' free rent, and one free pizza a month FOR LIFE.
Donna DeNicola, owner of DeNicola's Italian Restaurant in Southeast Portland, said the added cheesy clause was the result of a crazy competitive real estate market. "You kind of have to get creative at this point," DeNicola told Fox. "I'm willing to do anything."
According to the above report, the number of houses available for purchase has reached an all-time low. One realtor estimated that as of the end of April, selling every home on the market would take less than two months. So, getting a piece of that real estate market pie is proving difficult and prompting buyers to make sacrifices.
Prospective home owners are forgoing inspections and contingencies, and more people are making offers without even viewing the property in person. Giving up 12 pizza pies a year suddenly feels like nothing compared to buying a house you've never seen that could possibly be in need of major repairs, or, like, haunted.
Exactly how much dough (hardy har har) will this end up costing DeNicola? A large cheese pizza from Denicola's Italian Restaurant goes for $16.99, and if we assume the Marshes will be around for at least 50 more years, that's 600 pizzas valued at over $10,000.
No word on whether or not she'll charge extra for additional toppings.
