Chips Ahoy Donut

Whipped cream vodka. Beer-flavored jelly beans. Cotton candy Oreos. We know all too well that food mashups have the potential to go horribly wrong. But once in a great while, someone in some corporate high-rise gets it totally right—like the big wigs at Dunkin' Donuts just did. Their newest line is the best mashup we've seen in a long time: their Chips Ahoy donuts.

The first, the Chips Ahoy Crunch, is a glazed, yeast donut with chocolate frosting and a layer of crumbled Chips Ahoy cookies on top. The cookies are the perfect crunchy contrast to the light, flakey donut, and the icing makes the whole thing better (as chocolate frosting tends to do).

The second, the Chips Ahoy Creme, is an exercise in chocolate-chip cookie excess: It's a yeast donut topped with the same chocolate frosting and cookie chunks, but it's filled with chocolate chip cookie dough. The dough inside is basically insane---it has the flavor of cookie dough, but the fluffy texture of buttercream frosting. It's so good, it's hard to process.

We know this won't be the last we'll see of food mashups, but as long as corporate honchos follow their instincts instead of just following random trends (we're looking at you, Sriracha candy canes), we'll all get along just fine.
