We hate to break it to you, but the In-N-Out Burger photo that's been spreading across Facebook like wildfire is a lie. Well, at least for East Coasters.
The image in question (above)—of an animal-style cheeseburger and fries—was posted with the following caption: "In-N-Out Burger has officially bought a building permit in Medford and has started breaking ground as of Monday. It could open as early as September 2015." This prompted a flurry of posts from people living in Medford, Massachusetts—and all over the Northeast—to freak out.
But a closer look at the post reveals a heart-wrenching fact for New Englanders: KTVL is a CBS affiliate located in Medford, Oregon. So… good for the Pacific Northwest? As much as we'd love to believe the burger chain is planning cross-country domination like its rival Shake Shack, the news sadly isn't true. But it's fine, we're not heartbroken or anything. Nope, everything is totally cool.
Okay, fine, we're shedding a tear (or a dozen) and crossing our fingers for future endeavors.
