Generally speaking, a run to Taco Bell is often preceded by a dip in the old boozy watering hole, but wouldn't it be amazing to chew on a tasty burrito while taking a swig of a cold bottle of beer in this neon wonderland? Well, soon, you'll be able to in at least one location, assuming that the liquor license gods are kind.

A new Taco Bell set to open up this summer in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago has applied for a liquor license, according to Eater. If everything goes well, it'll be the first Taco Bell in the world to serve alcohol, and hopefully set a precedent for all of the chain's restaurants.

If we needed any more motivation to run for the border, booze would definitely do the trick.

Looks like our finger-crossing worked! The Mexican-inspired chain is officially serving booze in Wicker Park, pouring beer, wine, and spiked slushies (the brand calls them "freezes"). But don't think you'll be able to get them to-go: Spirits come in specialty cups to distinguish them from virgin drinks and will only be served to customers seated inside.

Taco Bell is reportedly opening a new location in San Francisco that will join the franchise's Chicago location in serving booze. Along with the beer, wine and frosty alcoholic beverages, the restaurant will offer all regular menu items plus some new appetizers. Opening date and official drink menu have yet to be released.
