While everyone has been distracted by the sad state of our carnitas tacos, Chipotle announced that it has launched online delivering via the Postmates app in 67 cities. Yes people, that means if you live in places like San Francisco, Chicago and Austin, you could be eating a Chipotle burrito without leaving the comfort of your desk, couch or bed.
Postmates is an Uber-like delivery system where drivers use their own vehicles to bring your order straight to your door. The app is the exclusive delivery partner for Chipotle, so if you can use the app in your city, you can order right now. According to NRN, there has been an attempt to offer online delivery from Chipotle before, but the company hasn't been a fan.
"We weren't sure whether the quality was going to be sufficient or whether they were following our rules," Mark Crumpacker, Chipotle's chief creative and development officer, told NRN.
The announcement comes expertly timed since the brand is improving its payment and mobile ordering options, starting with the Friday release of its Apple Watch app. The company is also exploring accepting payments through Apple Pay and Google Wallet down the road.
With all these developments, we feel safe in saying that it has seriously never been easier to satisfy that always-present burrito craving. Go forth, and add guacamole.
