Last year, Ninkasi Brewing Company sent six vials of yeast into space, aboard a UP Aerospace rocket. They returned to earth and went into the company's Ground Control beer, an imperial stout as dark as the fabric of space.
This isn't the first space beer, nor will it probably be the last. Popular Science reports that scientists are working on a way to brew space-ready beer for the burgeoning space tourism industry. But a word of caution: NASA tested that idea, and it didn't work out so well (everyone got sick, and the fumes tended to waft everywhere in zero-g simulations).
Ground Control will be available in some markets on April 13.
