We don't mean to alarm you, but this is bad. If there's nothing you find more calming than a margarita accompanied by a heaping bowl of guacamole, then it might be time to find another passion because there's an avocado shortage coming and it doesn't look pretty.

According to .Mic, water is to blame for the paucity of our favorite fruit. Ninety five percent of the avocados grown in the U.S. are from California. According to a report released last week, California's current drought is the worst one it's faced in 1,200 years and because a pound of those green goddesses require over 70 gallons of water to grow, this is overall bad news. And it's only getting worse. Climate change research reveals that rising temps will cause California avocado production to drop as much as forty percent over the next 30 years. Translation: Stock up now.

The good news: Tequila isn't going anywhere.
