Christmas lights are appearing, there's a chill in the air, and ambitious decorators are already erecting Rudolph replications on their roofs. But the foolproof litmus test to see if it is indeed the most wonderful time of the year is to check your cup holder. Does it contain a limited-time holiday drink from your local coffee chain? 'Tis the season to drink seasonally! Here's a rundown of this year's holiday specialties.
Starbucks
The ubiquitous coffee chain is offering its usual holiday fare: Eggnog Lattes, Gingerbread Lattes, Caramel Brulée Lattes, and Peppermint Mochas. Diet-minded revelers who come a-wassailing will be pleased to find a new, Skinny Peppermint Mocha made with sugar-free peppermint syrup and sugar-free mocha sauce.
Caribou Coffee
Caribou is offering is seasonal Reindeer Blend coffee both in bean and brew form. Also on the menu is the new Cinnamon Wild Latte topped with cinnamon sprinkles, the Ho Hot Mint Mocha, and eggnog-inspired Fa La Latte.
Dunkin' Donuts
Along with their new Warm Cinnamon Swirl Muffin, revelers can order a new Cinnamon Swirl Latte or one of the chain's returning seasonal latte flavors: Peppermint Mocha or Gingerbread. Dunkin' also announced the permanent addition of Mint Hot Chocolate to the menu, so you can hold the holidays in your cup any time.
Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
The L.A.-based coffee chain's menu-must-haves are the Peppermint Mocha Latte along with a Winter Dream Tea Latte and a rosy-hued Red Velvet Hot Cocoa.
McDonald's
McDonald's McCafé is striking up a bit of friendly competition with Starbucks by introducing their own Peppermint Mochas and Peppermint Hot Chocolate - their first ever holiday drinks. The seasonal sippers will only be available until January 2nd.
Seattle's Best Coffee
Seattle's Best is offering three seasonal items: the Gingerbread Latte, the Peppermint Mocha Trio, and the Sugar & Spice Latte.
