Glow-in-the-dark items aren't just for kid's bedrooms and college dorm rooms anymore—the trend has taken on (literally) a new life by turning boring old succulents into a glowy dream. These special plants, called Glowing Star in the Dark succulents, are currently available at Aldi in select locations for $5.99 each.

According to Gardening Express, these succulents are able to glow in the dark due to a special coating applied throughout the cultivation process in the nursery (which is non-toxic, BTW). Throughout the day—whether you place the plant outside or in artificial light—the succulent is able to store up energy so it can radiate its unusual glow once the sun goes down.

They can be grown outdoors in the warm summer months (we think they'd look pretty cool lining your sidewalk at night!) but once the weather gets colder outside, these succulents should be moved inside, like any other succulent should. The more light it gets, the brighter it'll shine!

Like all succulents, the Glowing Star in the Dark succulents are tolerant of dry conditions and don't have to be watered that often—perfect for the first-time plant parent!

Aldi notes that these succulents will not be available at all of their stores and that quantities are limited, so you'll want to call ahead to check with your local shop before getting in the car.
