There are few things in life that inspire more passion, more devotion, and more internet chatter than Starbucks and the TV show Friends. So, it makes sense that when the two come together it's a truly beautiful thing.
Recently, some Starbucks baristas have been crafting their own Friends-themed Secret Menu drinks, first reported on by TotallyTheBomb.com. This includes stuff like Frapps inspired by the show and individual drinks inspired by each of the characters who hang out at Central Perk. Let's break them down.
Before we start, I should note that there are a ton of these out there, and some of them are not so much secret menu drinks as they are drinks that baristas think each character would order from Starbs. Joey is such a PSL dude, right? In light of that, I'm just going to share my favorites, but if you want the full list, you can go to TotallyTheBomb.com for more.
First up is the Friends Frappuccino. The Starbucks in Bellville, Ontario advertised this secret menu drink around the 25th anniversary of the show. It's a bright pink drink that the location says tastes like raspberry creme candies. Though it's not clear what exactly is in their version (Delish has reached out and will update if we hear back), one commenter said she ordered something similar: a Vanilla Bean Frapp with coconut milk, a splash of guava juice, and dragon fruit, so that could be worth trying!
Next up is The Joey, spotted by Heather McNichols at a Starbucks in Modesto, CA. It's a PSL Frapp mixed with a White Chocolate Mocha, which you may recognize as the iced version of a Cinderella Latte. Another Friends item from that location is The Rachel, which is a Skinny Caramel Macchiato with an added shot of espresso. Not the most creative, but pretty spot on, I'd say!
When it comes to the rest of the characters, you'll just have to use your imagination to figure out what they would order. Is Phoebe a matcha gal? I feel like Chandler would just have cup after cup of black coffee, no?
As with all secret menu drinks, be sure to thoroughly explain your rough idea of the recipe to your barista and have patience. After all, they'll be there for youuuu.
