Chip and Joanna Gaines have a long list of fun family traditions with their five kids. But their Sunday ritual may be the sweetest.
The former Fixer Upper star said she loves spending the final day of the weekend at her Waco, Texas farmhouse with her and Chip’s children, Drake, Ella, Duke, Emmie, and baby Crew.
“I think Chip would agree that we’re both homebodies,” she told Parade. “And that there’s no place we’d rather be than at home with our kids.”
Her and her jokester husband’s preference to spend time at their farm relaxing has rubbed off on their young ones, too. “Over the years we’ve managed to create five little homebodies,” she admitted.
When Crew joined their crew (pun intended) back in June 2018, she also noticed her family shifting even more towards wanting to spend quiet time together. (Though Crew has already been put to work at the couple’s Magnolia Market at the Silos.)
“Since bringing home Crew, I’ve noticed that none of us are in a hurry to be anywhere but there,” she explained. “For Chip and me, there’s nothing sweeter than that.”
This change to a slower pace may be exactly what the designer and author had in mind when she and Chip ended their HGTV show last April. But now that they’ve announced they’re returning to TV (with their very own network, no less), their days of calm might be coming to an end. At least they’ll always have Sundays to unwind!
