It's 2018 and people enjoy participating in all the fun challenges they see online, especially if it means they can get a good post out of it. People post on social channels, encouraging others to attempt bizarre and sometimes downright dangerous "challenges." Recently, the "Hot Water Challenge" left teens with serious burns (shocking, right?!), and we all remember the very strange stint of kids eating tide pods for the "Tide Pod Challenge." You guys, please never, ever eat a Tide Pod.
Now, there's a different kind of challenge going on, and this one I would whole-heartedly recommend participating in. The "Tip The Bill Challenge" has people leaving 100 percent gratuity on their restaurant bill for their server, and it is really thoughtful.
This particular challenge comes at a time when people are just bad at tipping. Eater reports that 40 percent of people are unaware that they should be tipping between 15 and 20 percent. Those who choose to #tipthebill, then, are leaving a very pleasant surprise for servers.
Servers have posted to various social media outlets to share their appreciation for #tipthebillchallenge.
If you don't choose to participate in the #tipthebillchallenge, let this be inspiration, at least, to leave an appropriate tip for the individual who has served you!
