Japan has to wait the longest to see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom — the film won't be released there until July 13, per IMDB — but Japanese fans of the movie might be the most spirited. Lovers of the film franchise can excavate their way out of a fossil cake and eat a curry volcano at "Jurassic World Cafe."
The restaurant is a pop-up at two locations of The Guest Diner and Cafe, and it's open for a limited time to celebrate the release of the film. Per Movieweb, the promotion will begin in Tokyo from today until August 6, with seven weeks in Osaka to follow.
The menu includes entrees, sweets, and drinks with prehistoric flair. The "Jurassic World Burger" is served on a black bun on a plate that looks like its been scratched by a dino.
Then there's the "Volcano Curry" — bright red to emulate the lava from the active volcano in the film.
The other entree option is a "Powerful wildplate", with chicken and sausage on a plate next to little dino tracks.
The desserts are equally as 'grammable. There's the "Fossil excavation cake" with custard cream and berries. "Volcano Pudding" is a volcano eruption with lava of milk pudding and berry sauce. The "Geologic parfait" comes complete with little dinosaurs walking on top. Or, you can get the lemon-y "Dinosaur Egg Cake" with passion fruit syrup.
Those in a time crunch can order "The Dinosaur Cake" for take-out. It is available in either T-Rex or Blue. The restaurant also sells dino drinks: lattes with images of dinosaurs, soda with a creature coming out of the glass, and a smoothie with a "fossil" on top.
I'll have whatever Chris Pratt is having.
