There's nothing more humiliating than overhearing loud, rude comments from strangers about the way you look. But for 19-year-old Vega Blossom from Indiana in the United States, that was exactly what she experienced one evening in March when a woman fat-shamed her while they were queuing for cakes at the local bakery.

Instead of keeping tight-lipped about her hurt feelings, however, Vega responded with a bit of subtle, clever revenge.

"I saw on [Facebook] that a local bakery was having a sale on everything before they close tonight, so i headed over there," Vega wrote in a Facebook post that has since gone viral, explaining what happened.

"There was a lady in front of me getting a cake and a lady behind me with her friend as I was waiting in line. The lady in front of me took FOREVER getting her cake and the lady behind me was being really impatient and rudely talking about it.

"I ignored it until the lady in front of me left and as I walked up to the counter the lady turns to her friend and says, 'thank god, now lets hope this fat bitch doesn't buy all the cupcakes'," Vega described.

Ouch. But here's where the story gets great. "Originally I was buying six but as soon as I heard that I BOUGHT EVERY DAMN CUPCAKE. I SPENT $54 ON CUPCAKES JUST TO BE A BITCH. HAPPY EASTER," the teenager wrote.

Incredible.

Speaking to Caters News, Vega recalled how hearing the woman's nasty comments made her want to cry. "It really hurt my feelings. How could these grown women be so mean to someone they’ve never met, let alone talked to?" she said.

"Growing up a chubbier girl, I always got snide comments about my weight from people who, for some reason, think it's their business. But I swallowed the hurt and thought of the best possible thing I could do back to them that wasn't horrible, but that would teach them a lesson about respecting others."

And as lessons go, this was a pretty impactful one. Even more so now the story has gone viral, with people from all over the world sharing support for Vega.

"Hopefully this was a lesson in treating others kindly, and maybe a lesson in karma as well," she said.
