Taco Bell is no stranger to unexpected food mash-ups of Stoner's Greatest Fantasy proportions (Doritos Locos Tacos, Crunchwrap Supreme, Naked Egg Tacos, just to name a few). This summer, though, the brand's dabbling with one of your favorite childhood candies: Pop Rocks.
The chain made headlines nationwide after news broke that it was testing a spicy popping candy-infused burrito in California, but that's not the only dish getting the cracklin' treatment. At the end of the month, T-Bell will roll out Strawberry Poppin' Candy Freezes — a berry slushy that's swirled with strawberry popping crystals. The sweet drink will hit participating stores nationwide on Aug. 31.
Last December, the brand tested a Mountain Dew Baja Blast slushy with popping candy in it. YouTubers and diehard Taco Bell fans flocked to the area to try it themselves. "I am already hearing the snap, crackle, pop from the actual Pop Rocks on the inside of this right now," YouTuber Peep This Out said in this review of the drink. "This is a really cool novelty, and of course, it's that awesome flavor you guys love from Taco Bell's Baja Blast, just in frozen form."
Anyone who ever freaked out over that urban legend about mixing Pop Rocks and Coke can live dangerously — albeit not too dangerously — with this treat.
