2005's cup needs to make a comeback.

Every year we wait with serious anticipation for Starbucks to release its holiday cups. After all, it's not really Christmas without a red cup, is it?

Well, you might be pretty shocked/appalled/disbelieving to discover that the first ever Starbucks Holiday Cup wasn't even red.

It was purple.

The following year, Starbucks ran with the whole purple thing and added some pretty snowflakes.

But in 1999, the design team settled on the 'candy apple red' that customers have come to associate with Christmas at Starbucks. "There was a response to that shade of red," the Creative Design manager at that time said. "It was a joyous colour, and it really resonated with customers."
