Gone are the days of practical, stainless-steel appliances ruling kitchen countertops. Brands like KitchenAid and Le Creuset regularly churn out new colors for us to ogle over, and now, KitchenAid is taking things a step further. The kitchenware company launched its inaugural Color of the Year, and 2018's hue will definitely brighten up your countertop.

KitchenAid revealed "Bird of Paradise" as its 2018 color, with a line of countertop appliances in the coral shade rolling out between April and July. "Bird of Paradise is an exotic getaway in a color," Jessica McConnell, senior manager of Global Consumer Design, said in a statement. "The vibrant coral hue is uplifting and fresh, with just a touch of nostalgia."

Among the products are stand mixers, of course, like the Artisan Series 5-Quart Stand Mixer. It will be available in July, and while it costs a pretty penny, KitchenAid mixers are known for their durability. There's also a Mini 3.5-Quart Mixer coming in the spring.

If you prefer just a touch of color in your kitchen, the Two-Speed Hand Blender and Mini Food Processor are a little more subtle.

Bird of Paradise manages to stand out among the dozens of colors KitchenAid already sells. There's Tangerine and Persimmon in the red-orange family, and Guave Glaze and Watermelon in the pinks, but this one strikes a balance between all three.

Throughout the year, look out for other new KitchenAid products (though not all in Bird of Paradise shade), like a Seven-Cup Food Processor and Gooseneck Tea Kettle.
