It seems like every day, a new boozy-ish food comes on our radar. Whether it's gummy bears, marshmallows, or coffee, there's a trend going on of adding the flavor of liquor to foods without actually making them alcoholic. Spreadable Gin is the newest addition to the list, and it supposedly takes just like a gin and tonic.
Firebox, a grocery store in the U.K., makes the marmalade out of sugar, lemon, gin, quinine extract (found in tonic water), and citric acid. While there is gin inside, most of it is cooked off while it's being made, which keeps you from getting tipsy, even if you eat the whole jar.
According to Firebox, the marmalade tastes good in cucumber sandwiches, which sounds like a very British thing to say. The store also suggest spreading it, baking with it, or adding it to drinks.
Since Gin Marmalade sadly can't be shipped to the U.S. yet, you'll have to hop the pond if you want to try this spread. They really like their gin and tonics in the U.K., though, so if you're there be sure to hit up this Scottish gin spa and London's coolest free vending machine. In the meantime, you can get your gin and tonic fix from home with these Gin & Titonic Shots or Gin & Tonic Pickles.
