Good news for avocado fans: you won't have to head to Brooklyn to experience the country's first all-avo lunch spot for much longer. Avocaderia founder Alessandro Biggi, who opened his Brooklyn post last year, appeared on Shark Tank this week, and the sharks liked what they saw.
Biggi brought two kinds of avocado toast, a mango smoothie, and vegan chocolate mousse for the sharks to try. All the dishes come from the Avocaderia menu, which has various toasts, bowls, smoothies, and desserts, all containing everyone's favorite green fruit.
With the dishes, he hoped to convince the sharks to invest $300,000 into his business, so he can expand beyond New York into other health-conscious cities like Los Angeles, San Diego, and Miami. The goal is to open 20 more locations in the next five years, he told judges, and he's received 50 franchising requests since the store opened.
While guest shark Rohan Oza passed, Mark Cuban and Barbara Corcoran each invested $200,000 for a 10 percent stake in the company. Looks like Biggi's 2018 is about to get real busy!
FYI, to celebrate the win, Avocaderia's online shop in giving customers 15 percent off its avo swag with the code "SHARK." You know, in case you need a t-shirt with an avocado embroidered on it.
