  • The celebrity chef has poked fun at vegetarians and vegans in the past.

Gordon Ramsay is feeling the heat for poking fun of PETA on Twitter. "I'm a member of PETA ! People eating tasty animals......," the celebrity chef and Hell's Kitchen host wrote after Twitter user @thiccqueer asked Ramsay to comment on their vegan lasagna.

Ramsay's comment got over 44,000 retweets, 150,000 likes, and over 1,000 comments. One comment in particular came from the animal rights group itself, which actually stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. PETA chimed in on Ramsay's thread to tell the chef why someday he may one day become one of their members.

"Oh, dear, Gordon. We've heard that old line before," PETA wrote on their Twitter account. "While you're spending time mocking the future we're betting you one day become, most chefs are exploring healthy, animal- & environment-friendly #PlantBased dishes."

"A real 'hell's kitchen' is full of corpses & secretions from artificially inseminated, castrated, & routinely abused animals," PETA continued. "As Paul McCartney said, "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be #vegetarian.'"

A debate then sparked on Twitter between people who supported Ramsay's decision to eat meat and others who wanted to show their support of the vegan community.

Ramsay has not directly responded to PETA's comments. But the outspoken chef is not one to bite his tongue, and this is not Ramsay's first feud with vegans, either.

According to Eater, Ramsay pissed off non-meat eaters when he was asked what kind of food he's allergic to and he responded, "Vegans." In 2016, Ramsay also tried to get a vegetarian to eat meat on his show The F Word. See a clip from the episode below.
