Shake Shack is well-known for its burgers, fries, and shakes, but that doesn't mean they can't celebrate Taco Tuesday every once in awhile. On February 6, the Madison Square Park location in New York will serve two Mexican-inspired dishes created by chef Rosio Sanchez, including a breakfast taco that sounds pretty amazing.
Sanchez was the pastry chef at Copenhagen's famed restaurant Noma (ranked the best restaurant in the world three years in a row, no big deal) before leaving to open a taqueria called Hija de Sanchez. Her full-service restaurant, Sanchez, opened in Copenhagen in November.
Sanchez announced the collaboration with Shake Shack on Instagram, sharing details on the two limited-time menu items: a breakfast taco and crispy chicken sandwich.
Both will be made in limited quantities, so it's probably a good idea to head to Shake Shack early if you want to try either. The Breakfast Taco comes with roast pork belly, a cured egg yolk, avocado and habanero salsa and is served in a freshly-made corn tortilla. It will be available from 7:30 am to 10:30 am, while supplies last, for $6.49.
The Chick'n de Sanchez sounds a little more like something you'd usually find at Shake Shack, and adds spicy Chile de arbol oil, guajillo chili mayo, avocado, pickled onions, Boston lettuce and crema to a crispy chicken sandwich. It can be ordered after 11 a.m. for $8.99.
Throughout the day, Shake Shack will be decorated in authentic Mexican décor, and at 12:30 p.m. an all-female Mariachi band, Flor De Toloache, will perform.
Given Sanchez's involvement, both meals are pretty much guaranteed to be delicious. They're also connected to a cause — for every item purchased, Shake Shack and Sanchez will donate $1 to Mujeres Latinas en Acción, an organization that empowers Latinas through social services, support and advocacy.
