No one's ever called TGI Fridays a vegetarian-friendly restaurant, with its boneless chicken wings and cheesy, bacon-topped potato skins clocking in as some of the most popular items. But it looks like the restaurant's made a resolution to change that this year. As of today, all of its U.S. locations will carry the Beyond Burger. If you're not familiar with the meat-free imposter patty, here are the highlights: It's 100 percent vegan but looks, cooks, and even "bleeds" like a regular burger. Plus, it's got just as much protein, less saturated fat and cholesterol, and more iron.
TGI Fridays began testing the patty at select locations in October, and it was so successful, it's become the quickest test-to-table menu offering in the brand's history. The Beyond Meat Burger comes grilled and topped with white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and Fridays' sauce. In a side-by-side image the restaurant released, you can't even tell the difference between the Beyond Burger and a ground beef one.
The veggie burger launch is part of TGI Fridays' Better For You menu, with three other new offerings: Dragon Glaze Chicken or Salmon with Fresh Mango Pico (the poultry and fish have a spicy Korean BBQ sauce) and a side dish called Super Veggies. It's a mix of bok choy, broccoli, red bell peppers, and sugar snap peas steamed with fresh lemon.
