If you live near a DoubleTree hotel—or are staying near one over the holidays—start making plans to stop by the lobby. That's because the hotel chain is now offering one of its famous chocolate chip cookies to anyone who stops by, even if they're not a paying guest.
DoubleTree has kicked off its second annual 12 Days of Cookies event, offering free treats from Dec. 13 through Dec. 24, the company said in a press release. And the promotion is open to anyone, whether you're a guest or not.
Getting a warm chocolate chip cookie is definitely the best part about staying at a DoubleTree hotel. The chain started offering them in 1986 during turn-down service, and moved them to the front desk in 1995. Only a few bakeries have the secret recipe, which is offered at every location around the world. There are 75,000 cookies handed out every day, with 384 million given out to date. They're gooey and delicious and definitely hit the spot after you've been traveling all day.
If you can't stop by a hotel for a cookie, you can take part in their contest on social media. If you post a photo of you or a friend in holiday attire and hashtag it #sweetwelcome and #contest, you could be in the running for a tin of DoubleTree cookies, or, even better, two free nights at one of their hotels. Or you could try your hand at our copycat recipe.
