If you're one of many people who neglected to get all of your holiday shopping done on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, then Amazon has a special treat for you this month. Fully aware of the fact that it's now crunch time for anyone making their holiday purchases online, the retail giant is currently offering customers free same-day delivery from now until 11:59 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Amazon announced today that it has expanded Prime Free Same-Day Delivery and Prime Free One-Day Shipping in over 8,000 cities. Eligible customers who sign up for a 30-day free trial with Amazon Prime can get two-day, one-day, same-day shipping, and Prime Now — two-hour delivery — for free. If you're already a Prime member, you can select from thousands of items on the site that you can get delivered to your door in an hour or less. Right now the latter deal is only available to Prime members living in 30 cities, so just be sure to check and see if your city is eligible by visiting Prime Now.

If you're not in the mood to play a guessing game regarding when your package may or may not arrive, Amazon also created a holiday shipping cheat sheet ahead of the holidays to let customers know what dates they must have their desired products ordered by in order to have them by Christmas morning. These are some dates for you to keep in mind:

  • Dec. 15: Free shipping for all customers on items fulfilled and shipped by Amazon
  • Dec. 18: Last day for standard shipping; free for Prime members only
  • Dec. 22: Last day for two-day shipping; free for Prime members only
  • Dec. 23: Last day for one-day shipping; free for Prime members only
  • Dec. 24: Last day for same-day delivery, as long as an order is placed by 9:30 a.m. local time; free for Prime members

It goes without saying that this service will be a lifesaver for any and all people who are currently dealing with the stress of last-minute shopping. Just don't procrastinate too much — you definitely won't be the only one buying gifts at the last minute, and you being in the same boat as thousands of other customers still leaves lots of room for things to go wrong.
