The cereal bigwigs at Post announced they'd be bringing Oreo-O's back into production this summer, but it seems Coffee-Mate can't leave well enough alone. Now that the cookies are once again considered acceptable breakfast food, the brand is launching a Cookies and Cream flavored coffee creamer. The cookies on the packaging aren't stamped with Oreo's iconic logo, but they look identical to Oreo Cakesters. We're going to go on a limb and say they'll probably make your coffee taste just like the fluffy cookies, too.
Instagram sleuth @junkbanter was one of the first to break the news, and Pop Sugar followed up with a Nestle rep who confirmed it. The release date's slated for sometime in early February, but this isn't the first time Coffee-Mate has tried to turn dessert into a breakfast flavor. The brand is known for its sickeningly sweet creamers — like Chocolate Toffee Truffle and Crème Brulee — and even sold a Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie bottle at one point. They seem to be going hard on nostalgic classics for 2018, though: The "Oreo" creamer news comes just days after the announcement that a Cheesecake Factory flavor was in the works.
The trend looks like bad news for people who take their coffee black — like their soul. But if you're all for an 8 a.m. sugar rush, your world's looking pretty sweet.
