Some food combos were obviously meant to be (cinnamon roll pancakes, duh), others we truly didn't know we needed. Krispy Kreme-infused beer definitely falls into the latter camp.
Two Florida breweries recently teamed up to create a Russian imperial stout brewed with ACTUAL Krispy Kreme donuts. Hidden Spring Ale Works posted a photo to its Facebook page of the brewing process, and you can see a ton of glazed donut pieces ready to be made into beer.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, Hidden Springs and Arkane Aleworks brewed two batches —one made with two dozen glazed donuts, the second with two dozen cream-filled ones. Hidden Springs founder Josh Garman told the Times he hopes "to get some of the glaze from the Krispy Kremes to come through," and that they'll have a "roasty, chocolatey" flavor.
At 12.5% ABV, the brews are pretty boozy compared to most beers, even for a stout. The as-yet-unnamed beer will be available on draft and in bottles at the Tampa brewery by January.
No need to worry about a Stranger Things-type shut-down here ... while Krispy Kreme wasn't directly involved in the making of the beer, the company did reach out to offer support and its blessing, Garman said.
Other cool brews Hidden Springs offers are the "Deja Moo," a milk stout with smoked chipotle peppers and cocoa nibs, and the "Fat Guy In A Little Coat," a raspberry, coconut and vanilla berliner.
