While every coffee shop and their mother rolls out pumpkin and maple-flavored lattes, Tim Hortons ran in the complete opposite direction and launched a Buffalo Latte. Like the sauce on your wings. No joke.
You could call it a savory latte, if you're feeling generous. According to the brand, it's made with freshly brewed espresso, steamed milk, mocha, and "bold Buffalo sauce flavor," then topped with whipped cream and "zesty Buffalo seasoning." In a press release, the company called mocha and buffalo an "unlikely pairing," but one that makes for "an unexpectedly delicious sweet and spicy treat."
The lattes are available today, but only at two Tim Hortons locations in – you guessed it – Buffalo, New York. Fun fact that makes the crazy combo slightly more acceptable: both the sauce and Tim Hortons were created in 1964.
According to Buffalo News, the latte is "surprisingly drinkable," and is not "a jarring flavor like if you were drinking a messy blend of espresso and Frank's Hot Sauce, or if you dipped a chicken wing in a glass of hot chocolate milk." So, maybe there's hope.
Twitter reactions were split between utterly grossed out and proud of the "Buffalonian" drink.
You can try the spicy lattes at 4849 Transit Road in Depew, NY and 3470 Main St in Buffalo, NY while supplies last.
