An upside to today's tense political climate is brands' willingness to clap back at those making disparaging, sexist, or just plain stupid comments publicly. Cam Newton lost a sponsor after making a sexist comment toward a female sports reporter Wednesday, and Hamburger Helper went in on a sexist tweet that gained traction on Twitter this week.
The drama started when a random dude decided to dispense some crucial dating advice on Twitter; his comment, unsurprisingly, garnered tons of replies.
The tweet shows a screenshot of a Snapchat a girl presumably sent him. Twitter users were quick to point out that, since it's not 1950, a woman's cooking skills shouldn't determine whether or not she's "wife material."
Hamburger Helper caught wind of the tweet and decided to be the white knight of the day with this response:
Cue the Twitter reactions, and this guy pretending he's a Bachelor star about to get a sponsorship deal.
In case you were wondering, Lefty (the Hamburger Helper mascot) is alive and well and celebrating his 40th birthday at a club in Brooklyn. 2017, y'all.
