Hershey's just confirmed the buzz: The brand confirmed the official launch of its fourth-ever flavor — Gold — today. The announcement coincides with the 100-day countdown to the 2018 Winter Olympics; Hershey's is a sponsor of the United States Olympic Committee.

This is the first time we've gotten a look at the unwrapped bar in its entirety, too. It looks like caramel, and at a pre-release tasting we found out that it tastes like it, as well, though not quite as sweet. The bar is made from creme that's been caramelized and mixed with bits of peanut and pretzel. It's the first time a mass-market candy company is offering caramelized creme.

Since it's so different from anything they've done before, Hershey's decided to go rogue with its pips. That's what they call the individual pieces of each bar, and the ones in Gold are two different sizes puzzle-pieced together both horizontally and vertically.

Starting December 1, you'll be able to find standard and king-sized bars on grocery shelves nationwide.

You really can never go wrong with a sweet-and-salty candy combination. If you're a bigger fan of caramel and/or pretzels than chocolate itself, you might want to keep your eyes peeled for Hershey's newest product.

Word on the street is that Hershey's is releasing a brand new candy bar — but this one won't include the brand's signature milk chocolate. According to a few junk food blogs on the web, the candy giant is gearing up to release a new product called Hershey's Gold Peanuts & Pretzels, made with caramelized creme. Given how secretive companies can be about new and rare products, you shouldn't be surprised to know that Hershey's hasn't officially announced this new addition to its candy lineup. But an official announcement (or lack thereof) won't stop the internet from talking.

Junk food blog Candy Hunting took to Instagram back in July to announce that the candy bar would be available in December.

And that's not the only blog that has the inside scoop. News of the candy bar's release was also reported by junk food connoisseur The Junk Food Aisle earlier this week.

Hershey's Gold Peanuts & Pretzels may not be made with chocolate but considering how big of a fan favorite the brand's Cookies 'n' Creme bar has become, this one could be quite the hit with candy lovers. Other than the bar's ingredients and proposed release month, there's not too much information about the new product out there, so it looks like we'll all have to be on the lookout for any kind of updates or rare sightings of the candy bar.
