With a death toll that's now up to 46 and floodwater remaining in parts of Texas and Louisiana, it's going to be a long road to recovery for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Relief groups are working hard to help deliver clothing, food, and basic supplies to those in need, and urge cash donations as the most efficient way in getting food and supplies out quickly.

While locals have helped neighbors in amazing ways – baking bread while stranded and delivering pizzas by boat – and companies like MillerCoors and Anheuser-Busch have sent cases and cases of drinking water to victims, here are some of the ways you can help too.

Houston Food Bank

During the 2016-17 fiscal year, the Houston Food Bank donated more than 83 million meals to Texans in need. Their efforts are currently focused on helping neighbors impacted by Harvey; you can donate to the cause here. Every $1 provides three meals, so even the smallest donation helps. If you're in the area, you can drop off items in person too.

Feeding Texas

Feeding Texas is a nonprofit that focuses on reducing food insecurity through a network of food banks. The banks are putting together food boxes, shelter meals, and cleaning supplies to families impacted by the hurricane; to help, you can donate here.

State of Texas Agriculture Relief Fund

The STAR fund helps farmers and ranchers restore operations after natural disasters. Donate here to help with more long-term problems caused by the hurricane.

Galveston County Food Bank

This Gulf Coast food bank is a Houston Food Bank partner, and its website lets you designate donations to Hurricane Harvey Relief.

Corpus Christi Food Bank

Every dollar donated to the food bank provides seven meals. Donate here to help Harvey relief efforts specifically.

San Antonio Food Bank

The food bank is operating in emergency response mode, and is accepting food donations in person at the Food Bank warehouse, 5200 Enrique M. Barrera Pkwy, San Antonio, TX 78227. Monetary donations can be submitted online here.

South Plains Food Bank

South Plains says the most needed foods right now are snacks like granola bars, pop-top ready-to-eat items, pantry items like peanut butter, tuna, or soup, and bottled water. To avoid additional sorting and transportation costs though, monetary donations are preferred.

Kroger/Red Cross

If you shop at Kroger, you can make a donation while checking out, and the money will go to the Red Cross Disaster Relief fund, providing food and shelter to victims in Texas and Louisiana.
