Cotton Candy grapes have taken on an almost mythical status — a fruit that tastes just like the carnival favorite?! How can that be?! — and for many people, they're just that: a myth. They've read the stories, they've heard the rave reviews, but they've never seen them in grocery stores, let alone tried one themselves.

Well, if you live near a Sam's Club, that could all change. The big box chain has started carrying Cotton Candy grapes in its stores for a limited time. The sugary sweet snack is sold in 3-pound bags, and the company's offering $1 off from now until Sept. 10. Considering the grapes' limited availability — the variety's only in season for a little over a month, from Aug. 10 to Sept. 20, according to Grapery — it's worth ordering a batch online and picking up in store, or calling ahead to make sure they have plenty in stock.

A Sam's Club representative said they should have the grapes available for about 3 to 4 weeks. Later this month, they'll start selling another surprising variety: Moon Drop grapes.

They're a teardrop-shaped, dark purple grape that looks almost like a mini eggplant. "The grapes are so crisp they can be snapped in two, revealing a translucent green seedless pulp," writes SpecialtyProduce.com in its description of the fruit. The website says the grapes have a more concentrated flavor than traditional red grapes and recommends stuffing them with salty cheese for an unexpected sweet-yet-savory appetizer. The funky shape and dark, almost black color seem perfect for a Halloween spread. As if you needed an excuse to make a cheese platter.
