Beginning this Monday, shopping at Whole Foods may not require a whole paycheck anymore. That's because the grocery chain officially was acquired by Amazon, and that partnership means lower prices, immediately.

Both companies announced in a press release Thursday that Amazon's acquisition of Whole Foods would become official on Monday, August 28, and shoppers would see immediate results in stores. Here's what will be cheaper on day one, according to their statement:

"Starting Monday, Whole Foods Market will offer lower prices on a selection of best-selling staples across its stores, with much more to come. Customers will enjoy lower prices on products like Whole Trade bananas, organic avocados, organic large brown eggs, organic responsibly-farmed salmon and tilapia, organic baby kale and baby lettuce, animal-welfare-rated 85% lean ground beef, creamy and crunchy almond butter, organic Gala and Fuji apples, organic rotisserie chicken, 365 Everyday Value organic butter, and much more."

And there will be more changes rolling out over time. First off, and most importantly, if you have an Amazon Prime membership, you'll get special discounts and other perks; Whole Foods will be treating Prime like a customer rewards program. Second of all, if you prefer to get your groceries delivered, you can get Whole Foods private label products, like its 365 line, through AmazonFresh, Prime Pantry, and Prime Now. And third, you'll be able to pick up Amazon packages through their locker systems at Whole Foods markets.

It's unclear exactly how much prices will lower, or when the other changes will start. But it was obvious that Amazon buying Whole Foods was going to be a huge deal, so expect even more changes as time goes on.
