Ah, McDonald's, a place we love to hate and hate to love. Rumors of fake chicken, syrup-ladened sodas, and frozen burgers have circulated the world of fast food since the beginning of the chain's national dominance, and people just keep chowing down. Because fries.
For the most part those rumors are baseless, and even if they aren't, there is usually no photo proof. That is, until a former employee aired out some of the company's dirty laundry on Twitter after leaving.
Behold, the soft serve machine:
Mickey D's is always the butt of any fast food joke on social media. However, as a person who has been personally effected by an "out of service" soft serve machine, the former employee's post seems like a bit of poetic justice.
But that's not even the reason most machines are broken. According to the Twitter user (whose name appears as Nick), the machine at this store was in working order — with all of that disgusting gunk in it. *shudders*
But Nick didn't stop there. After proving that the sludge was from the soft serve machine and not the grease trap with this picture...
... he continued to divulge what he referred to as McDonald's "secrets." Frozen beef patties, pre-formed chicken nuggets, and perfectly square fish filets. "It's no surprise that it's frozen but this shit isn't even real meat or fish," he wrote.
And then later shared some of the, uh, overlooked spots in the kitchen.
But rather than hop on a hate train after all of this negative exposure, people took to Twitter to defend McDonald's. Which makes sense, considering McFlurries are basically America's national pastime.
This tweet storm comes just days after Watchdog, a BBC consumer series, discovered fecal coliform, a.k.a poop bacteria, was found in samples of some McDonald's, Burger King, and KFC restaurants' ice. Is nothing sacred?!
