The trendy food mantra these days seems to be if it's colorful, it wins. Unicorn frapps/cocktails/pizza, glittery bagels, Liger shakes—if it's bright or pastel, you'll find it on Insta.

McDonald's is hopping on the trend in a positive way, serving fries in rainbow-colored boxes at select locations to coincide with gay pride festivities this month. The boxes will be sold at locations in nine San Francisco Bay Area counties throughout June, while Washington D.C. locations sold them this weekend along the city's gay pride parade route.

"The rainbow fry boxes are a fun way to show our support of the LGBTQ community using one of McDonald's most iconic and recognizable items; however, these fry boxes are 'small potatoes' in the grand scheme of our commitment to this community," Cathy Martin, co-chair of McDonald's PRIDE Network, said in a statement.

A McDonald's spokesperson, Kim Knapp, echoed Martin's thoughts, saying "McDonald's has always been a company that has supported diversity and inclusion of its employees and extended McDonald's family."

McDonald's is an official sponsor of this year's pride festivities, which are taking place in cities around the country throughout the summer.
