Caramel M&M's may have some major issues they need to work through (remember their recent savage behavior?), but the chocolate candies seem to be getting along just fine. The three varieties — white, milk, and dark — have joined forces on a new M&M's flavor called Triple Chocolate. Mars, M&M's parent company, just announced the launch, but here's the catch: They won't be released until next Valentine's Day — hence Red holding a ring topped with an M&M instead of a diamond on the front of the package.
Luckily, we got our hands on a bag at The Sweets and Snacks Expo in Chicago, and they're as good as you're imagining. Like other loaded M&M's varieties, the Triple Chocolate candies are extra big, and when you bite into one, you can see all three layers of chocolate. There's the usual milk chocolate center, surrounded by white and dark chocolate rings, and the traditional hard coating.
After a few test bites — all in the name of journalism — we've got 90 or so M&M's left … meaning we can pop about two candies a week to tide us over until Valentine's Day.
