Shake Shack is known for a few key things: flat-top griddled patties smothered in secret sauce, boats of crinkle fries, and insanely thick "concrete" milkshakes. Now, in its first-ever cookbook, which hits stores on May 16, the chain is revealing its recipes for everything from its classic burger to limited-edition creations like the Roadside Double.

But what we weren't expecting to see in our press preview copy was a sneak peek at something brand new and never-before-seen.

In a section titled "Taste of Things to Come," the book outlines Shack's process for developing and taste-testing new menus to see if they will "live or die." Among them are cups of chicken tenders (on page 161).

The caption explains that "chicken tenders are universally applauded ... not at Shacks yet, but see page 170!"

YET. That's the key word.

And while we don't want to get ahead of ourselves, we're preeeetty sure that means we can expect to see nuggs on menus sometime soon — especially when page 170 brought us to a real recipe for what the authors (Randy Garutti, Mark Rosati, and Danny Meyer himself) are calling "Chicken Bites" with a buttermilk herb mayo for dipping.

So, while you're waiting for what could become Shack's best item to arrive, at least you can make them at home.
