Some people have a fear of flying. It's usually got to do with TSA nightmares, plane malfunctions, or colonial women on the wings. But Gordon Ramsay, king of blunt statements, just shared that his fear stems from something totally different: eating on an airplane.

"There's no f*cking way I eat on planes," Ramsay recently told Refinery29. If you're wondering how the Brit makes it through eight-hour, cross-continental flights, don't: It seems the restriction applies only to the food coming around on the carts. He elaborated, "I worked for airlines for 10 years, so I know where this food's been and where it goes, and how long it took before it got on board." Ramsay might be on to something, even if his reasoning misses the mark. Studies have shown that your taste buds change when you're in the air. So even the freshest food can seem slightly off.

Airport terminals are a different story, though. Ramsay's got his own restaurant in London's Heathrow airport called Plane Food but will settle for an Italian bar if he's elsewhere. "A nice of selection of Italian meats, a little glass of red wine, some sliced apples or pears with some Parmesan cheese, I'm like a pig in shit," he shared.

If you don't have time to pack a sandwich or pick one up before you board, you're not completely out of luck. Here are the airlines with the best and worst food.
