When Sugarfina announced it was making "Green Juice" Gummy Bears back in 2016, they meant it as an April Fool's joke. But when customers started calling in desperate to purchase the non-existent gummies, Sugarfina decided to make their prank a reality.
"We loved the idea of gummy bears inspired by the juice trend, but we had no idea it would be so in demand," says Sugarfina co-founders Rosie O'Neill and Josh Resnick. "We called up our L.A. neighbor Pressed Juicery and had a ton of fun collaborating with them on the recipe."
Even though Pressed Juicery is a health food brand, they were into the idea.
"We're serious about what we do, but we don't take ourselves too seriously," says Hayden Slater, the co-founder and CEO of Pressed Juicery.
The gummies are officially on sale starting today and come in three different sizes of "juice" bottles that range in price from $3 to $14. There are 15.4 oz and 7.6 oz bottles full of "Green Juice" Mama & Baby Bears (AKA normal size and teeny-tiny gummies), plus a 1.7 oz mini shot-size bottle full of "Green Juice" Baby Bears.
If you're looking for a funny gift for a friend who's totally obsessed with juice, Sugarfina is also selling a "Green Juice" 7-Day Gummy Bear Cleanse, which includes a box set of seven shot-size bottles that will be sold exclusively at their stores and on their website for $23.
While this is a "cleanse" in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way, these gummies are sort of healthy considering that they're, well, candy. Made from a blend of spinach, apple, lemon, and ginger concentrate, they get their coloring from spirulina and turmeric. They're also fat free, gluten free and one serving provides you with 20 percent of your daily vitamins A and C. Not too shabby!
These green juice gummies are currently on sale at select Sugarfina and Pressed Juicery stores across the country and also online.
