Whoever is running Wendy's social media accounts is an evil genius. After clapping back at a troll about its fresh beef burgers and later trolling haters en masse, the brand is in the spotlight once again for an epic tweet.

It all started on April 5, when user Carter Wilkerson (@carterjwm) posed an innocuous question that most people would assume the company would ignore. "How many retweets for a year of free nuggets?" But, in a hilarious twist of fate, Wendy's replied.

The fast-food brand set the bar extremely high: at 18 million. That's more retweets than anyone has ever received on a tweet — including Beyoncé. In fact, the highest ranking tweet belongs to Ellen DeGenerous. It's her Oscar selfie from 2014 that's sitting pretty with 3.2 million retweets. Yikes.

At the time of this publication, Wilkerson's pinned post — the one Wendy's is watching — has already garnered 1 million retweets, more than 4,700 replies, and over 265,000 likes. Those are stats that, the brand admitted, they never thought he'd achieve.

But in less than two days, the internet has banded together to get this man his free nuggs.

Unsurprisingly, a hashtag (#nuggsforCarter) was created and people are spreading his story like wildfire shamelessly trying to get it trending.

Of course, there have been some critics questioning the plausibility of this epic task.

Though, as some have already pointed out, Wendy's didn't give Wilkerson a deadline. So really there is no rush other than his own hunger. The RTs keep coming in, but it doesn't matter if it takes weeks, months, or even a year to rack up 18 million. The nuggets will be free either way. That probably explains how Carter could come up with this lowkey arrogant post:

What's more, some users are trying to piggyback off of Wilkerson's ballsy move, calling out other brands like Pizza Hut and McDonald's for free food.

Maybe all this fanfare will help bury the spicy nugget debacle from last month.
