While food brands (probably) know what they're doing when they remove a popular menu item from the regular lineup and spark outrage online, it's far less common to see wrongful firing grievances aired on social media. That's why when one man, Brad Reid Byrd, took to Facebook to express how "pissed off" he was about his wife getting fired from Cracker Barrel, the internet paid attention.
In it, he claims his wife was laid off after 11 years of service to the company with no real reason as to why. So he asked others to essentially help him troll the restaurant chain until he gets an answer. In just under a month, the post has garnered nearly 2,000 reactions, over 150 comments, and almost 1,000 shares.
But that's not all. It's also sparked two completely different ripple effects online: One that takes it seriously and have either decided to boycott the brand with #NotMyCountryStore and/or have gone so far as to sign a change.org petition. The other set has flipped his complaint into a hilarious meme. And you could even argue that there's even a third group whose intentions—totally on board with Brad or truly tongue-in-cheek?—are unclear.
Nevertheless, #JusticeForBradsWife continues to trend on Twitter. Someone even made a parody account for the nameless woman.
What's even more ridiculous is that other fast-casual chains are taking part, offfering Brad's wife a position in their restaurants.
The longer this goes on, the more outlandish it seems to get. But tell us: What's your stance on Brad's wife?
