We can always appreciate a good over-the-top dish like beer-can burgers or meta pizza-topped pizza. But those meals are a joke and their creators know how ridiculous they are. IHOP didn't really get the kitschy, tongue-in-cheek memo when creating its latest breakfast item, double-dipped french toast coated in both cornflakes and oatmeal. Say what?
I mean, we're ones to talk about insane breakfasts—we've turned yogurt into breakfast banana splits, made milk and cereal popsicles, and tossed morning pizzas. But dunking brioche french toast in vanilla batter, then cornflakes, and then oatmeal on top of that? That's more than enough carbs and calories for a week of morning meals. Plus, IHOP takes it to a crazy extreme, topping the triple-layered toast with lemon cream and strawberries or cinnamon sugar, depending on your order.
The insane new item will be on offer nationwide from July 27 to September 20, promising to be all the crunchy cereal, creamy oatmeal, and fluffy french toast you'll probably never need.
