This may be hard to believe, but up until 1949, McDonald's burgers were sold with potato chips on the side. In 1949, French fries were introduced on menus, replacing potato chips.

Introduced in 1963, the Filet-O-Fish was launched as an alternative for Roman Catholics who were fasting from meat during Lent.

Burger King Yumbo

Introduced in 1968, the Yumbo was a ham and cheese sandwich sold on a sub roll. It remained on the menu until 1974 when it was discontinued.
