Don't forget to pin it for later!

Whole Eggs

Egg, Egg, Oval, Finger food,

We're sorry but Pinterest is lying to you. Eggs cannot be hard-boiled in the microwave. As the appliance generates rapid heat, steam forms inside the egg but has nowhere to go. So the steam puts pressure on the shell until the egg explodes, leaving you with a horrible mess to clean up.

Water

Drinkware, Glass, Liquid, Barware, Fluid, Tableware, Transparent material, Highball glass, Hardwood, Tumbler,

Surprisingly, water should be off limits. When heated in the microwave, plain water doesn't form bubbles, which can help cool it down. Instead it becomes superheated and can scald you. Either use a pot or kettle on the stove, or heat it in the microwave for longer in small increments.

Frozen Meat

Fresh Fruit

Styrofoam

Household supply, Plastic, Office supplies, Paper, Label, Box, Dairy,

Whether it your morning coffee or last night's take-out, the styrofoam packaging has go to go before you nuke anything. The flimsy plastic will melt and emit dangerous fumes you definitely don't want to be consuming.

8

Hot Peppers

Food, Produce, Ingredient, Malagueta pepper, Red, Bird's eye chili, Vegetable, Bell peppers and chili peppers, Spice, Whole food,

Not much happens to the pepper itself, but your eyes and throat are sure to burn once you open the microwave and the chemical it releases into the air hit your face.

Brown Paper Bags

Paper product, Khaki, Packing materials, Beige, Paper, Cardboard, Household supply, Box, Packaging and labeling, Facial tissue,

The USDA advises against using lunch bags to cook in any form whatsoever, calling them "not sanitary" and warning consumers that they "may cause a fire or emit toxic fumes."
