ICYMI, Meghan Markle officially has a bun in the oven. The Royal Family broke the news this morning with this official announcement: "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019. Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public."

While the newlyweds certainly have plenty on their minds as the prepare for their first child, one of our first thoughts was how Meghan, a self-proclaimed foodie, will fare during pregnancy. After all, it's generally a time when people are extra-cautious about what they eat and drink. Here's a look at some of Meghan's favorite foods, and how she may tweak her diet over the next few months.

Back when Meghan's website, The Tig, was still active, she professed her love of sushi to Eye Swoon, calling it one of the foods that remind her of her California roots. While the FDA recommends pregnant women eat 2-3 servings of fish per week—which should be no problem, as Meghan also loves grilled fish tacos—there are a few types to avoid due to high mercury levels, including king mackerel, marlin, tuna, and swordfish. Depending on her usual order, Meghan might have to switch things up for the time being.

Speaking of The Tig, did you know Meghan's lifestyle website was named after her favorite wine, Tignanello? As she told Delish in 2016, "French fries and vino are my vices," especially "big, beautiful red" varieties. While some women drink a glass of wine here or there during pregnancy (some studies have shown it is not harmful early on), the CDC warns against any alcohol consumption during pregnancy. Regardless of what Meghan chooses to do, her current wine habits are sure to differ compared to her rosé-all-day days.

Meghan is a regular green juice drinker, calling it a "food-as-medicine philosophy." She may exercise caution here, too; the FDA advises against pregnant women drinking unpasteurized juice during pregnancy, as they are at a higher risk for food-borne illnesses.

While filming Suits in Toronto, Meghan was known to frequent the Cheese Boutique. Sadly, it's advised against consuming certain cheeses during pregnancy (feta, brie, and Camembert, to name a few), so she'll likely count that indulgent snack out for awhile.

Pasta and Grains

While Meghan has said she's cut out gluten entirely before, she also loves to indulge in a bowl of pasta from time to time. "When I'm traveling, I won't miss an opportunity to try great pasta," she told Delish.

During pregnancy, she may ease up on the no-gluten rule, though—especially since whole wheat grains are recommended. It's reported that her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, ate oatmeal during her pregnancy to help with morning sickness, along with berries and avocado.
