1The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, 2018
Getty ImagesAs mentioned, Meghan and Harry went with the untraditional choice that is lemon and elderflower. Royal wedding cakes are generally fruit-forward, so the floral-y addition was unexpected. Also different was the presentation: Instead of a massive, cleanly-iced monster, the cake — made by Violet Cakes's Claire Ptak — was unstacked and roughly finished, which makes it all the more Pinterest-worthy, tbh.

Getty ImagesThere are no pictures of the final product that was Charles and Camilla's wedding cake, but it was, indeed, a fruitcake, and it was made by the delightful woman you see here: Etta Richardson. Per Etta, this was exactly the kind of cake served at the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall's reception.
4Prince Charles and Princess Diana, 1981
Getty ImagesThese two reportedly served 27 (!) cakes at their wedding. Twenty-seven cakes! This bad boy was the showstopper, though, and it was a 5-foot-tall — wait for it — fruitcake.
