A good sandwich with a side of chips can't be beat. The combo is pure summer–whether you're at the beach, sitting poolside, or cheering on a baseball game. What more could you ask for? It's a well-rounded meal that's easy to make and transport wherever the summer takes you.
But when it comes to sandwiches (and chips) people have strong opinions and unique takes. For peanut butter, there's crunchy versus creamy. And just try to give Hellman's to a Duke's Mayo connoisseur. For chips, there's delicate Lay's versus textured Ruffles; the salt and vinegar lovers and haters; and those that prefer chips in the sandwich over on the side.
But what about chip and sandwich combos? We took to Instagram to ask the fans. Out of our top six pairings, we asked people to share their favorite. And people had thoughts.
Amongst the sandwiches, the PB & J and ham & cheese seemed to get the most votes, followed by turkey and BLT. (Sorry, tuna and tomato). But people seemed to have serious thoughts on the type of chip that should go with their favorite sandwich.
"Let’s swap the PB&J pretzels for Cheetos and then I’m done with my notes," one person commented.
"PB and Doritos. No joke. It's been my favorite for 30 plus years," another said.
Another person who chose the PB & J said to swap chips with carrot sticks and red pepper hummus.
One commenter said they'd prefer jalapeño chips to accompany all of the sandwiches.
And, as expected, people chimed in on where the chips should be. "I’m not eating chips on the side, they go in the sandwich and there only two that definitely qualify and one I would consider… and pb&j needs Lay’s, crushed, inside… I said what I said 😎"
"If you don’t crush chips inside the sandwich, we can’t hang," a person wrote.
Between our top two contenders, which will you be eating this summer?
