Check your fridge or freezer because a popular sausage brand has just recalled 24,173 pounds of its ready-to-eat chicken sausage. Kayem Foods Inc. has recalled its fully cooked products due to contamination with foreign material, more specifically, pieces of plastic.

The affected products were produced on June 28, 2025, and come in 11-ounce vacuum-packed packages that contain 4 pieces of sausage, labeled as "All Natural al fresco Chicken Sausage Sweet Apple" with Vermont-made syrup. The packages are marked with a lot code of 179 and use or freeze by date of October 1, 2025. Unfortunately for those of you who enjoy their links, these sausages were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

To date, three customer complaints have been reported, involving white pieces of plastic embedded in their sausage products; however, no injuries have been reported thus far.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service encourages consumers who purchased the contaminated products not to consume them and to either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare provider, the recall states.
