Most people know Giada De Laurentiis for her cooking. She spent 21 years at Food Network and just launched a new series on Amazon Prime Video: Giada in the Kitchen. But recently, fans have applauded her for more than her recipes. The television star was seen saving a turtle in the road.

De Laurentiis shared a video on her Instagram where she's seen getting out of a car to rescue a small turtle. She picked it up, just before a car is seen driving their way and releases it on the side of the road.

Fans commented on the video showing their appreciation for De Laurentiis' efforts.

"Poor little fella šŸ«¶šŸ¼šŸ¢," one person commented. "You're so sweet for doing that, this is another reason why we love you 😘."

"I love Giada even more now," another wrote.

"Imagine being the car coming towards them and realizing it’s Giada out here saving turtles. Love to see it!" another person said.

When helping turtles cross the road, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service says to be very careful as it could be injured or try to bite you. In this case, it's recommended to "stand guard" as the animal crosses the road. If you do pick up the turtle, they say to move it to the other side of the road in the same direction it was originally going.

People commenting on De Laurentiis' video also mentioned the importance of pointing turtles int he same direction after they're rescued. According to PETA, this keeps the turtle from trying to cross the road again.
