Recalls are a familiar part of life, especially in 2025, with dozens already reported on everything from apple juice to premade salad. However, the latest recall is one that has many people on edge.
SharkNinja has announced the recall of 1.8 million Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers after multiple reports of serious burn injuries. The recall, issued on May 1, follows 106 incidents where consumers reported burns, including 50 cases of second- and third-degree burns to the body and face. According to a report by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the pressure cookers pose a risk because they can be opened during use, which allows hot contents to escape, potentially leading to severe burns.
The recall affects the following models: OP300, OP301, OP301A, OP302, OP302BRN, OP302HCN, OP302HAQ, OP302HW, OP302HB, OP305, OP305CO, and OP350CO. These pressure cookers are black with a 6.5-quart capacity and were sold between January 2019 and March 2025. They were available for purchase at major retailers including Walmart, Target, Amazon, and Costco.
"The safety of our customers is a top priority for SharkNinja," the company wrote in a statement provided to CNN. "This addresses reports that some consumers have been able to open the pressure-cooking lids of certain units of these cookers during use, resulting in burn injuries from hot contents."
If you own one of these affected pressure cookers, it is crucial that you stop using it immediately. SharkNinja has advised consumers to contact the company by email at sharkninja@rqa-inc.com or submit an online form for a lid replacement or refund.
It’s important to note that while these pressure cookers are being recalled, other SharkNinja products, including air fryers and similar devices, are not impacted by this issue and are safe to use. So, there’s no need to stop using your other SharkNinja products. If there are any updates on additional recalls or affected products, we’ll keep you posted.
