Asking for tips is more common than ever. In fact, a study from last year confirmed that we're tipping nearly $500 more a year than we'd like to. That's enough to buy the new Ninja Frozen Drink Maker! And if you thought tipping was relegated to just restaurants and coffee shops, we've got some bad news for you.

Tipping has now infiltrated—wait for it—children's birthday parties. You thought that slice of cheese pizza and can of Coke at Timmy's fourth birthday bash was free of charge? Not anymore, my friends.

In a video that has gone wildly viral on Instagram, baker Victoria Perry (@victoriascakes343) revealed that she's had several clients who mentioned suggested tips on their birthday party invites. She confessed that she finds the tip requests inappropriate.

"On those invitations, at least three that I've seen so far, there is a little spot on the bottom that says 'tipping is encouraged,'" said Perry.

According to the baker, one of the invitations included an explanation of why tips are requested.

"Tipping is encouraged if you plan to bring your child and they plan to eat and play. Please send along cash with your child for the tip bucket to go towards party expenses," the note read.

Upon hearing about the birthday party tips, users flooded the comments section of Perry's post.

"Don’t throw the party if you can’t afford the party," read one stern comment.

"Dudes…I haven’t seen this before, but wow. I think the expectations for kids' parties in the US is offfff the chain right now," another user chimed in.

One person pointed out that there are way too many low-cost options for someone to resort to these measures.

"Absofrigginglutely NOT. There are plenty of low-cost options you can choose that are still wonderful for little ones. During Covid, when we weren’t allowed to have parties, we went tobogganning with our daughter and friends and brought hot chocolate and donuts. It cost me $20 and she said it was her best party ever," they wrote.

Will you be opening your wallet (even further) for the next birthday party you attend?
